Former Melbourne Vixens shooter Rahni Samason, who has strong links to New Zealand, will ply her trade with the Stars in 2024. Samason made her debut in Australia’s Super League in 2021 as a training partner before becoming a fully contracted Vixen in 2022 and 23. Standing at 1.84m, Samason can play both shooting positions and after representing the Victoria state team at U15, U17 and U19 levels was considered one of Australia’s brightest young prospects coming through their pathway. Composed under pressure, Samason has a willingness to go to the post and is a confident long-range shooter while providing plenty of flair and movement in the circle. Her father was born in the Cook Islands and previously lived in South Auckland.
