Born in Australia but with dual citizenship, midcourter Emma Thompson gets her opportunity to test the waters at the elite level in New Zealand after signing with the Stars for 2024. Playing her early years of netball in Australia, Thompson first made the move to New Zealand in 2020 when she was selected for the Northern Marvels NNL team but that was cut short due to Covid-19. Returning to Australia, Thompson took up a development opportunity with the NSW Premier League and the Giants Academy where she was the starting wing attack in the 2022 Australian Netball Championships. Playing senior netball in New Zealand had always been a part of her plan and Thompson returned last year as an apprentice with the Tactix while also featuring strongly in the Mainland NNL team, leading to her goal of an ANZ Premiership contract.
