Already a White Ferns cricketer, talented midcourter Kate Heffernan has continued to leave a strong impression on the netball court. Cementing her place as a Steel regular, Heffernan will back for a third season in 2021, impressing enough from the outset to earn selection in successive Silver Ferns Development squads. The midcourter made a seamless transition to the higher ranks after being called up as an injury replacement in 2018. Standing at 1.81m, Heffernan is tall for a midcourter, her long reach and athletic ability proving a disruptive influence when playing out of wing defence. Traditionally a centre, Heffernan had never played wing defence before joining the Steel but took to it like a duck to water. Heffernan is the daughter of former Silver Fern Annette Heffernan.
