South African shooting star joins Magic

The Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic have secured the signature of South African shooting star Lenize Potgieter for the 2017 ANZ Netball Elite League.

Potgieter starred for the SPAR Proteas in the recent Netball Quad Series, and will be a valuable addition to the Magic team.

Coach Margaret Forsyth says she is excited with the squad she has been able to assemble.

“The last three weeks have been an interesting time as well as a lot of fun,” Forsyth said.

“The group we have is a mix of considerable international experience from Casey Kopua, Grace Rasmussen and Lenize Potgieter, some players with real talent and seasons of trans-Tasman league experience in Sam Sinclair and Kelly Jury both of whom represented NZA and Kelly was also in the Under 21’s.

“As has been the case with Magic over the last three seasons we have looked to youth and have many exciting young players.”

The Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic team for the 2017 ANZ Netball Elite League is: Casey Kopua, Kelly Jury, Alex MacLeod-Smith, Grace Kukutai, Samantha Sinclair, Grace Rasmussen, Sydney Fraser, Monica Falkner, Amorangi Malesala and Lenize Potgieter.
