Match Preview (R9): Tactix v Mystics

TEAM NEWS:

“Consistency” continues to be the catch-cry from the Silvermoon Tactix after they were left disappointed with their efforts last week.

Co-captain Hayley Saunders said they would need to ensure their “intent and communication” was constant when they came up against the SKYCITY Mystics.

“We kind of come in and out of the game with some of those controllable aspects so consistency is a big one for us,” she said.

The Tactix have shown they can match opposition for a couple of quarters but struggle to maintain that intensity for a full 60 minutes.

The last time they met the Mystics there was just one goal between them at the first break before a second-quarter slump – where they netted just five goals to the Mystics 21 – put the game beyond reach.

The Mystics will be smarting from what was perhaps a season-defining defeat last week and anything short of maximum points will hurt their Finals hopes.

Co-captain Anna Harrison was blunt in her assessment of the loss to the Northern Stars wanting more ball from the defence and better decisions made on attack.

WHO TO WATCH:

Zoe Walker (Tactix) – the Nelson-born netballer returns home to the Trafalgar Centre and takes with her some of her best form of her career. The circle defender is getting her hand to plenty of ball and forming a formidable combination with Temalisi Fakahokotau for the Tactix.

Hayley Saunders (Tactix) versus Elisapeta Toeava (Mystics) – the Mystics wing attack has been troubled by injury in recent weeks and coach Helene Wilson may opt to manage her workload against the bottom-placed Tactix. But Toeava has been a key cog for the Mystics frontline and was missed when she left the court against the Stars.

Samon Nathan (Mystics) – in her first season for the Mystics, the midcourter has a safe pair of hands on attack and showed her defensive abilities last week with four deflections and one intercept.
